The street where I live is lined
with flowering pear trees.
Bright white blossoms, legion.
Lace patterns waving hello to spring,
a festoon-banner greeting the equinox.
Why has it not come to mind before?
Why floriculture a barren anomaly?
What good is a pear tree sans fruit?
Is beauty alone enough?
Pears are so delicious,
don’t you think?
Why just bite with your eyes?
